This weekend was filled with 12 inches of snow, baby snuggles, and brainstorming new creative concepts for my business.
A blizzard rolled in, temperatures dropped fast, and we made the call to stay with my parents for the weekend because our house doesn’t keep up in this type of weather (half of our heat strips are out). There was something comforting about being tucked into my childhood home while the snow piled up outside though. Slower mornings. Extra help with baby. Spending time with family.

In between the storm and family time, I spent some time on a maternity session I’m currently editing. There is something so special about photographing life in its earliest, most tender moments. This mama also hired me to capture her birth in March, as well as for a newborn session once their little one arrives. They are eagerly waiting to find out the gender of baby once he or she is born, and brother and sister are stoked!
Soft light, tiny fingers, quiet love filling the room. Editing newborn images feels like a reminder of why I do this in the first place: to preserve fleeting moments that deserve to be remembered.

The downtime also gave me space to think creatively. New content ideas (model calls and designing a new welcome guide), reflection on my ‘why’, and thanking God for the little moments. I’ve been reflecting a lot on what it means to create—not just as a photographer, but as someone made in the image of a Creator. We were designed to make, to dream, to build beauty from what’s been placed in our hands. Photography, for me, is a form of worship—seeing light, emotion, and connection and choosing to honor it.
And because life loves contrast and God seems to like making our life more exciting, while all of this was happening… three cows (and soon another one) decided this was the perfect weekend to give birth—on the coldest days of the year. Farm life doesn’t wait for convenient timing. We bundled up, bottle-fed calves in my grandparents laundry room, and made sure they were strong enough before heading back out. There’s something grounding about caring for life so directly.
This weekend was messy and cozy. Oklahoma weather isn’t my favorite, but I’m thankful to be close to family. Literally, next door.
I can’t wait to create more this year, especially with the new types of sessions I want to explore more of. More lifestyle, in-home, and newborns, along with what I’m already doing — couples, maternity, and families.
I’m grateful for snowstorms that slow us down, newborns that remind us how precious life is, and a calling that lets me create from a place of purpose. Thank you Jesus!
